Real estate lawyer Mark Lilla told ABC News that the real estate industry is in “total chaos” as the Trump administration tries to dismantle the Affordable Care Act.
Lilla, who is a partner at the law firm of Hogan Lovells, said that Trump and the Republican Congress are trying to take away all of the protections for the most vulnerable Americans.
“If you look at the legislation that is being drafted, it’s a disaster,” Lilla said.
“The most vulnerable people in this country are going to be the most hurt by the repeal of this legislation.”
Trump’s move to dismantle Obamacare was not the first time Trump attempted to repeal the law.
In February, he called for the repeal and replacement of Obamacare, and called the law “one of the most expensive, one of the worst in the history of our country.”
In April, Trump said he would not support a replacement plan, and that if he were president, he would keep the Affordable Health Care Act in place.
Trump has also repeatedly claimed that he was able to repeal and replace Obamacare because of the votes of “a very, very small group” of people.
The president told supporters in March that the vote count was “a little over 100,000 people” for him to pass the repeal.
